The inaugural PTA soccer games

Today was a perfect day for soccer! And we made small history for DBS for having this PTA inaugural practice with all the passionate parents players and other parents who came out to support on our school field.  We trust that you all enjoyed these games and had great fun with the boys! Thank you Mr. Joe Ngai, Dr. Peter Lam and other PTA exco members for coordinating the event. Special thanks to Mr. Sidney Mok for coaching the boys. Hope to see you again very soon.

Establishment of PTA Soccer Team

We have great pleasure to announce that the PTA will establish our own soccer team, and the first practice session/casual match is scheduled for Sunday, 19 February 2012.

Based on the previous conversations with many of the parents, we are informed that a lot of parents have great interest in joining sporting events and hope the PTA will be able to organize such events for them. The setting up of the PTA Soccer Team is therefore our first attempt to organize such activities. Parents will have fun playing soccer while their boys will also be enjoying their game on the side at the same time. Details of our first practice session/casual match are as follows:

Date: Sunday, 19 February 2012

Time: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Venue: DBS School Field

Remarks:

(1) Mr. Sidney Mok has kindly offered to help supervise and coach parents and boys.

(2) Boys are also welcome and there will be a practice session for them as well as a parent-child game.

(3) Please do not send your child to attend the event alone. Boys can take part only if their parents will be playing in the adult team.

Parents who are interested in the event are requested to send an email to dbsptalpd@gmail.com to confirm your attendance by Friday, 17 February 2012. If you are unable to attend the session this time but would like to join us in the future, please also send us an email.

Tidbits from DBSPD open house

What an eventful, educational, and fun-filled day.  The school welcomed a great turnout for this Open House even though it was raining lightly and we all have to crowd in a bit during some of the performances.  Lots of great work by the boys were displayed and enjoyed by parents and friends and guests alike.

Appointment of New Headmaster

At the School Committee meeting on 12 Jan, 2012, it was resolved to appoint Mr Ronnie Cheng as Headmaster for Diocesan Boys’ School to succeed Mr Terence Chang, when he retires in Aug 2012.

We like to thank Mr Terence Chang for his great contributions to DBS over the years and allowing our PTA to form and to work closely with the school over a wide range of matter. We look forward to working with Mr Cheng and Headteacher Ms Lo and wish them continued success at the school.

School Open House 15 Jan, 2012

Please invite friends and families to join us at the annual open house for the school on 15th January 2012 from noon to 5pm.  Our own students will be introducing their school life and school work with a wide array of their work on display.  Visitors will be able to participate in a variety of in-class subject activities.  There will also be musical performances from our orchestras. 

School Cleaning Day – 9 Jan 2012

The Annual School Cleaning Day was held on Monday, 9 January 2012. It was a function  jointly organized by the DBSPTAL-PD and the School.  Our sincere thanks to over 100 parent volunteers who came and helped with the effort.  The boys did great cleaning and had demonstrated excellent teamwork (special recognition to grade 5 boys who cleaned the toilets!).  A special health talk was also delivered with strong student interaction.  For a more extensive gallery of the events’ action  and awards, please kindly find them in our facebook post.

You can’t ask for a better day for running.  Perfect weather with blue sky, light breeze and temperature in the high teens.

Congratulations to all the runners, both students and parents, who put in an excellent performance.

A big thank you to all the volunteers and school staff too who makes today’s event a great success.
